I decided to brave United tonight to go shopping for my Atkins food. I got everything on [livejournal.com profile] sorchawench's sample menu, but some of the basics that the book says you need. I spent a grand total of $173.45. Of course I bought some extra stuff for Alexander too. He doesn't need Atkins. He needs the Eat Something For God's Sake Diet. He has been eating better though over the last few days. I got him to eat a banana and a whole hot dog. Funny, I'm trying to stop myself from eating so damn much and trying to stuff his face simultaneously.

I start Atkins Monday. I already warned everyone at work that I may be feeling like shit for a few days, but not to take it personally.

Tomorrow Alexander turns the big 0-5! I have to go to rehearsal tomorrow afternoon, darn it, but afterwards I'm going to take him to The Plex and then to Toys R Us to buy something cool.

How long do you figure the groceries will last you? Just the 2 weeks or longer? I soend about that much a month for 3 adults. But then again, we're a house of snackers and eat on the go-ers. So most of our stuff is easy to fix and portable.

I'm thinking it will last about a month. Wow, if the diet cost that much per two weeks, I'd really be broke!

That's what I was hoping. If it was a 2 week grocery list, I was going to order you to come shopping with me.

I just tried to reply to this, but the computer ate it.

Anyway, what I said was, I was just looking at all that food and now I'm thinking that even if I wasn't dieting, it would still probably last a little more than a month....

My son is a living nightmare at mealtimes. I think if he could survive on fresh air, he wouldn't eat at all. Since he has had two weeks off for Christmas, I have really been making a huge effort to get him eating more healthily. Getting him involved with food preparation, more wholesome foods, etc. Used my slow cooker the other day as well and the results were truly delicious. I was a terrible eater as a child but now I'm a healthy normal eater. I think my son takes after me that way. He sure doesn't look like me, but some aspects of his personality are like me, thankfully. (I was an ugly child so that's a blessing really.)

Alexander likes to eat junk sometimes, but getting him to eat "real" food is like pulling teeth. The only place he eats is his sitter's. If he didn't eat there, he'd probably drop dead. I've been told he doesn't eat because I give him too much milk. But he won't eat anyway, and at least with milk he gets some nourishment.
