When someone you consider a good friend betrays you, it hurts like a motherfucker. Especially if it's with no explanation, and heresay tells you that it's because of something someone else did that you didn't even know about. To "defriend" someone just because they're friends with someone who pissed you off? WTF? And it was for a really stupid reason for getting that pissed off. Especially when it's something he's done a million times himself. Can you say, "hypocrite", boys and girls? I was done with junior high in 1987, but I know a 42-year-old man who's still in it. It gets harder and harder each day for me to fucking trust anyone.

I don't think betrayal is a universal reaction -- that a circumstance could be taken as a betrayal if viewed from one angle, but from another angle would be a simple disillusionment from having some elevated level of respect to now realizing they are just a regular person. Everyone is a hypocrit at some point (and more often than one personally suspects self to be, I've realized) and perhaps this is just their turn to show it. It's not like a defriending is forever or something. If said friend can friend and defriend at such whims of fancy, he/she could just as easily realize the error and refriend the next day =P

I do agree that everyone does something hypocritical at some point. In this case, however, it really seems to be more of an "eternal defriending". Some things just blow my mind. I'm a very forgiving person. It takes a lot for me to never speak to someone again, and for someone to stop talking to me because of something someone else did, especuially considering how stupid the event was....Well that just makes no sense to me.
