Some of look for the inward bone structure rather than what is on the surface. Kinda like seeing a guy who is normally coldly unemotional cry once, you always remember the tender moment whenever you see him although he puts up a wall.. no matter what the surface looks like (applies especially to makeup) the inner structure remains the same.

That may be true, but unfortunately a lot of people don't care what's on the inside if the outside ain't pretty.
